17 Apr 2008 - AYRSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIP

The final of the County Championships held at West Kilbride Golf Club was a battle between the two St Andrews University students, Morag Macpherson (The Ladies' Golf Club, Troon)  the best qualifier, and Jenny Linklater (Largs).

The weather was bright with a brisk cold wind.  Morag had the early advantage and started the last 5 holes along the shore 3 up.  However,  Jenny fought back to level after 18.  Both were on the 19th in 2 but Morag retained her nerve to win on the green.

The Semi-finals had contained another of our very promising youngsters, Rachael McQueen (The Ladies' Golf Club, Troon) who lost 5 & 4 to Morag.  The fourth player was our Vice-Captain, Alex Glennie (Kilmarnock Barassie) who put up a spirited performance before losing 3 & 4 to Jenny.
