SLGA Under 14's Championship

Four Ayrshire girls competed in the above event.  The standard of golf in this age category is improving each year; the winner Lesley Atkins, who was a member of one of the SLGA winter training squads, plays off 5 and had a superb score of scratch 74.

Our girls (pictured on the photograph page) did very well over a very wet course with fierce rough!  Katie, Connie and Hazel are eligible to play in this event again so Ayrshire is fortunate in having some very talented golfers with plenty of junior years left!

WEST  GIRLS  CHAMPIONSHIP - TROON  PORTLAND - SUNDAY  2nd  NOVEMBER

The semi-final and final of the West Girls Championship was finally played in horrendous conditons on Sunday 2nd November, the previous attempt having been abandoned after 6 holes due to flooding.

Rachel McQueen beat Gillian Scanlon in the semi-finals before losIng to Eilidh Briggs at the 17th in the final.

Katie McGarva beat Rachael Irvine 2 & 1 in the Bronze semi- final in a match where both girls played below their handicaps.  Connie Jaffrey beat Hazel McGarvie in the other semi-final then went on to win against Katie in the final.  All girls deserve a medal for producing such good golf amidst the sleet, hail and biting cold conditions.  Well done to Rachel Irvine and Hazel who caddied for the Bronze finalists - a tough job that day!
